Analytics privacy

Updated October 26, 2026. This notice explains optional website analytics on mudwater.gg.

Your choice

During our US testing phase, Google Analytics 4 runs automatically on eligible public pages. This setting does not detect or restrict visitor location. You can turn analytics off using “Analytics settings” in the footer, without affecting playing, browsing cards or your account. We also respect your browser’s Global Privacy Control signal.

When you change analytics settings, we save your explicit choice in this browser for up to 180 days. We do not record the testing default as your consent. Invalid or expired saved choices leave analytics off until you make a new choice. If your browser cannot save it, analytics stays off. Your choice does not carry over to other browsers or devices.

What we measure

When analytics is enabled, Google receives visits to selected public pages, a generic page name, selected referring website names, and standard browser/device, session and engagement information. Google processes connection information, including your IP address, to provide the service and estimate geographic location. Google’s linked privacy documentation explains how IP addresses are processed and discarded, including regional differences. Analytics is not anonymous: its cookies can recognize a returning browser.

We use this information to understand which parts of the site are useful and where visitors come from. Google Analytics cookies named _ga and _ga_… may last up to 180 days. Advertising storage and personalization are disabled in our integration.

What we exclude

We do not send wallet addresses, player names, account identifiers, wallet signatures, inventories, form entries, search text, match details or private URL parameters as analytics data. Google Analytics is not loaded on profile, wallet, deck, challenge, individual match, individual tournament or admin pages.

Only approved public page paths and fixed page names are used. URL queries and fragments are never included in our page views. Pages with unrecognized parameters or fragments are excluded entirely, and referring URLs are reduced to approved website origins. Automatic Enhanced Measurement is disabled. For solo practice, we measure game starts, resumes, limited human-play activity and first completions, using only difficulty, win/loss/draw and rounded visible game time. We do not send moves, hands, deck identifiers, game identifiers or opponent details. A small counter in the local game save prevents repeated completion reporting; it is not an identifier. Analytics opt-out also applies to these events.

Changing your choice

Choosing “Turn off analytics” stops further analytics collection in this page and removes this site’s Google Analytics cookies. It does not delete data already sent to Google. If you turn analytics back on after stopping it, it can resume on your next eligible page visit. Clearing browser storage removes your saved preference; on a subsequent visit, the current testing default applies again.

Google and other site features

Google processes analytics data on its infrastructure, which may be outside your country. Read Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s information about GA4 privacy. Google Analytics is separate from the necessary account/session storage, locally saved practice games and server security logs used to operate the site.

This notice covers optional analytics; it is not a complete account or tournament data policy.
